A little plein air painting

This past weekend we did a two day camping trip. I took the medium pochade box and found a perfect spot next to a whitewater creek in which to paint. The temps were a bit on the cold side since we were 3200+ft. in elevation. There was still snow on some of the shadow side of the roads. But all in all it was a great weekend!

Making a preliminary sketch of my scene.

This is the scene I used for my 8×10 oil painting.

I was able to lay in all the base colors and will bring up the light values in the studio. Will share the finished piece soon!

An artist’s life…

You’ve heard it said, “the best laid plans…”

I’ve had every intention of getting in front of my studio easel, or taking out the plein air gear, but life has other ideas lately.

My paints and brushes wait patiently while I attend other interests, like gardening. This year my husband built me a greenhouse and I’ve been having a great time growing my veggies from seeds and tenderly caring for them! Finally they are big enough to transplant into the green house!

Paints….I will be back! Promise! In the meantime, I need to make room on the gallery wall in the studio to hang more work. What to do?

Well, I know…. sell some art! Yes, all small works are on sale for up to 50% off. You get free shipping if you are a U. S. Resident and you can try out the painting in your space for 14 days; if it doesn’t work, return it!

Decorating Idea

See how great a small works painting fits into your decor?

They are perfect for a grouping in a bookcase or art niche too!

“Please Pass the Gravy!”

Gravy Boat oil painting

“Gravy Boat” original oil on panel, reminds us of family dinners,

when someone always says, “Please pass the gravy!”

I know, because I’m one of those folks who love gravy!

“Teapot” Original Oil on panel

Teapot

New in the store! “Teapot” is a 6″x6″ original oil on panel painting.

I used a limited palette of whites and greys to portray the subject.

The black frame with silver liner, makes a very dramatic statement!

This painting may be small, but I love the way it commands attention!

Sunsets sometimes remind me of candy! I love it when the lake mirrors those candy colors in the clouds. This painting may be tiny but it packs a lot of vibrant color.
