The Light at the End of the Road

This weekend we went Christmas Tree hunting in the forest for the “perfect” tree. It had snowed then rained earlier in the day so everything was a sloppy mess. The temps were in the mid 30s, just right for creating fog! After we found our tree and loaded it into the truck, this amazing scene revealed itself at the end of the road:

Light at the end of the Road

I just love it when I’m in the right place at the right time and the Lord reveals Himself!

“Fly Fishing on the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River”

Wow that’s a long tittle! But that’s where this painting was originated so that has to be the title. Right? This one is nearly ready for varnishing, which is the best part because it unifies all the colors and makes them pop!

Fly Fishing

“Fly Fishing on the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River” is done in oil and painted on panel. It will be framed in black with a gold liner. It’s the second of a new series called “Reflections”.

“Fly Fishing” oil on panel

Fly-Fishing

Standing in a creek casting a fly in hopes of catching the big one is the ultimate fun! This painting was a joy to paint and is lovely to gaze upon with all its dark jewel tones. It’s truly one of my favorite paintings!

A little plein air painting

This past weekend we did a two day camping trip. I took the medium pochade box and found a perfect spot next to a whitewater creek in which to paint. The temps were a bit on the cold side since we were 3200+ft. in elevation. There was still snow on some of the shadow side of the roads. But all in all it was a great weekend!

Making a preliminary sketch of my scene.

This is the scene I used for my 8×10 oil painting.

I was able to lay in all the base colors and will bring up the light values in the studio. Will share the finished piece soon!

Candy Colored Sunset

Candy Colored Sunset painting

Sunsets sometimes remind me of candy! I love it when the lake mirrors those candy colors in the clouds. This painting may be tiny but it packs a lot of vibrant color.

Signed by the artist. Certificate of Authenticity included. On SALE!

(The Tamarack Mountain Studio watermark is not on the painting.)
