During the winter I like to paint still life pieces and “Eggs” oil on panel is one of those. I sketched a few ideas in my sketchbook as to how I thought a composition should be arranged:
I love creating graphite drawings in my sketchbook. Since I used a 6″x6″ panel, I had to work my sketch into a square format. I was happy with the design until I painted it and decided it needed a little more:
I think a little piece of shell with some egg dripping out added a touch of a story to the piece and makes it more interesting. What do you think?
“Eggs” oil on 6″x6″ panel is part of my White Things Series.
A fun little abstract oil painting of leaves. This is another of my miniature 4×4’s that really came out great! A palette knife painting with African overtones. Great for adding a pop of color in out of the way places. 👌🏻
I think I’ll explore more work like this in the coming months.
I just love this time of year and using nature as a decorating theme! Pine cones, acorns and the tinsel on the Christmas tree are some of my favorite things. In fact, I was inspired to paint some miniature oil paintings with these subjects, and I use them as part of my holiday decor. I hope your holiday planning is going well and you are enjoying this time of year! I’ll be sharing more Christmas paintings this week. 🙂
“Cardinal in the Snow” is another of my Christmas collection oil paintings. It’s done on 4″x4″ gallery wrapped box canvas. Here’s a look at how I use these mini paintings in my decor:
I have a little Christmas village that’s so fun to display and the mini paintings above complete the ambience. Every year I decorate a little differently and these little paintings can be used in a variety of vignettes. Small paintings are easily changed and moved to suit ones’ needs and don’t cost a fortune to own! By the way, my blog posts don’t show it in the WordPress reader, but did you know I have a shop where you can purchase paintings? If interested, just click HERE.
Don’t you just love the change of seasons? Fall is on the way as summer slowly winds down. The temps are getting cooler and there’s a chill in the morning. I even see trees beginning to change color! Fall is my favorite time of year. Here’s a little painting to set the tone. A 6″x6″ oil on panel ~
“Pears” is painted on 8″x8″x2″ gallery wrapped canvas, and depicts three beautiful pears just as they are beginning to ripen. I find the shape of pears to be intriguing and feminine. There are so many subtle colors in a pear and the taste is the best part! How do you like your pears? Chocolate drizzled, or with whipped cream? Ice cream covered or poached in a wine sauce? I like them just as they are. 🙂
This painting will certainly command attention in your space when the vibrant colors of this “Apples” original oil painting are showcased. It’s small size is perfect for any location and is ready to enjoy right out of the box. No need to wait for expensive framing as the back is enclosed in wood and has a hole for hanging.
