Review of Oil Painting Supplies

Plein Air season has arrived here in the northwest, as the temps are slowly rising to “comfortable”. I am rethinking my entire strategy for plein air painting, getting rid of what doesn’t work and adding new things I haven’t tried. I seem to fight with my tools a lot and I want to eliminate the fight so I can concentrate on painting and capturing the essence of a scene.

So, I gathered up the gear and took it all out on the deck to just paint and seriously judge all my tools. Here’s my set up:

Deception is everywhere!

I do not buy likes

I came across some interesting information the other day that really ruffled my feathers, so to speak. The information came to me via an email this company sent me about my Instagram account. At first I ignored it but then a few days later, decided to read it and understand what the email was really about. It started off explaining how my account could see exponential growth if I would just follow certain guidelines.

Well, I’m already doing what the email suggested I do and I am not having any luck at gaining “exponential” growth. In fact I’m lucky if I ever get more than 20 likes or 50 views on any given post. In fact its so frustrating I’m ready to close my Instagram account! I see many many accounts with thousands of likes the minute they post! How can this be? I see accounts with 10,000 plus followers and I wonder “why does this account have so many followers when there’s really nothing special about it”? Or I’ll see accounts with ZERO posts and the account is private but they have 5,000+ followers! How can that be?

I’ve been so discouraged by all of this and it really plays a mind trick on me. I’ve even gone so far as to contact Instagram support only to be completely ignored and even punished via shadow banning! Then this adds to my frustration because any new person landing on my page sees I only have 182 followers on a good day and 20 or less likes on a post and it makes them head for the hills!

Well check out what the company that emailed me is all about:

“We make you popular on Instagram!” You can read about this website called Instaswift, HERE

Instaswift offers one the ability to pay for likes and followers, as much or as little as you want. It’s discreet and runs in the background and Instagram will “never find out” according to the website disclaimer.

This makes me so upset I could spit nails! Have any of you wondered about this on Instagram? I have an artist friend on Instagram who is so upset about not gaining followers and likes that she’s taking a four month sabbatical from Instagram.

Go and read this website for yourself. I’ve linked up every photo, of the screen captures from their website. I’m sure this is not the only service out there! I call B.S.!! And for the record I will NOT be one of those who pays for likes and followers. So if you should ever visit me on Instagram and wonder why I have so few followers and likes, it’s because they are genuine and not paid for! The worst thing about this whole thing: Instagram REWARDS those who have a high amount of likes and followers by putting their posts at the forefront of the “TOP” of the list of most seen posts.

So not right! 👎🏻 I just thought I’d share in case you were wondering why you see this phenomenon on Instagram. User beware! ~ Rhonda

UPDATE: As of 12-31-18 I closed all my social media accounts. This blog is the only place I am posting as my social media outlet.
