A few months ago I went out to water the garden and when the water splashed on my tomato plant I saw something move, so I pushed aside the plant and there I discovered an injured yellow throated warbler bird. I remember in the back of my mind hearing a smack on the window earlier that day but had forgotten about it.
The bird had his eyes closed and was clearly injured. I managed to get him on my finger and he let me gently pet him while I looked for signs of a broken wing or leg. There wasn’t any blood and nothing appeared broken. I then decided a nest I had might be a good place for him to rest. But when I tried to get him in it he just sat on the side of the nest and wanted no part of the whole idea.
He flew off when I tried to adjust the nest and landed in another of my tomato plants. I saw that he was resting on a branch deep inside the plant and so decided to leave him be and said a little prayer for him. The next day I checked and he was gone! I was so happy I decided to make this little painting in remembrance. The bird is a male Yellow Throated Warbler.
